It is all a matter of perspective

Your more-or-less humble guide is Guy Smith, a man of eclectic past and passions.

A significant part of Guy’s past has been as a marketing strategist. But as a political animal, he has also spelunked the topic of propaganda and analysis. Being philosophical from birth, the intersections of these aspects of life — marketing, propaganda, philosophy — presented recurring crossroads and interrelationships.

So, Guy started his journey on wanting to get a handle on:

  • What is belief
  • How we come to believe anything
  • Why do we choose to believe odd things
  • Why do we voraciously defend beliefs
  • How to we change our beliefs
  • How do we change other people’s beliefs

To his dismay, he did not find any concise works on the subject. Even if he had the time to ingest all the works of all the great philosophers, he was acutely aware they all carried their share of biases and cultural predispositions.

Hence, he started cobbling together his education, thoughts, observations with the intent of creating a map and a lingua franca for discussing belief systems.

This website (and who knows, maybe a book someday) is a first step to understanding why we believe and maybe why we shouldn’t.
